As a rule,
rhododendrons and azaleas are not tolerant of wet soils. Breaking
that rule, however, the swamp azalea, at right, is tolerant of
constantly damp soils. It's soft pink flowers appear in late June
through mid-July and have a nice, honeysuckle-like fragrance. Its
leaves turn a reliable reddish-orange before dropping in the fall.
