The complex issues surrounding medical care, from access to affordability and everything in between concerns all of us.
Yet, despite all of these issues, if you or a loved one becomes sick or injured in Central New York, you can be assured that high quality medical care, in one form or another is close at hand.
There are five hospitals with close to 2,000 beds within ten minutes of the heart of downtown Syracuse that, between them, offer all but the most specialized and sophisticated medical service. At the same time, there are some services available at our hospitals that are found at only a few other locations in North America. And, soon Central New York will be home to a new Children's Hospital, too!
Affiliated with several of these hospitals are a medical school and three schools/colleges of nursing. This means that many local practitioners come into frequent contact with faculty and students that are familiar with the latest research in a wide range of medical fields.
Just a few of the additional medical services available locally include a Joslin Diabetes Center, Ronald McDonald House, Loretto services for older adults, and Hospice of Central New York.
